The company and blog called Travelers by Trade was looking for a logo to be the image of their brand. The company is made up of two friends, one with a background in spirits and the other in wine, who are traveling the world and exploring different cuisines and beverages. They wanted a logo that depicted the globe and illustrated travel. They also wanted to add the element of food, but ultimately decided not to because it made the logo look to busy and confusing.
I made the globe the center point of the design, allowing the brand name and other design elements to circle it. I created a plane vector to illustrate that they are world travelers. For the text, I created contrast by making the word “by” lower-case to break up the upper-case words. I used a contrasting color palette of red and green to make the logo eye-catching.

Screen printing experiment using high-fire paints to try and achieve a watercolor effect. Watercolors have different opacities to them, giving a painting a broad range of colors. With screen printing, each screen can only use one color at the time. I had to break up the painting into different opacities and colors, from lightest to darkest. Each screen then was designated a certain color. That way, when they overlay each other, they would replicate the painting.
Overall, the high-fire paints did not blend as seamlessly as desired, but still created a fun eye catching design.

Cenote Tequila was looking for a unique design for their tequila. The company’s passion for the South West and old tapestries were the two themes they wanted to merge into one cohesive design.
I created simple flora and geometric shapes and patterns that circled the brand name, making it look like a tapestry. We couldn’t decide between a positive or negative design so we created both to see who they would look. Ultimately, they decided to go with the positive gold printed design.
Benicia Wellness Center
Benicia Wellness Center, was looking for a logo to illustrate their new business. They are beacon of health and wellness; offering services in functional medicine, chiropractic care, active relief, massage therapy, and car accident care. They were looking for an image that was simple, but engulfed all of the elements of their business. Scientific, holistic care was the core of their beliefs and felt that the imagery should be derived from that theme.
I decided to look into scientific and health imagery to get inspiration. The overlapping hexagonal pattern is a reference to organic chemistry and the make up of complex compounds. This imagery was derived from the function medicine faction and how they use science driven methods to treat pain and health challenges. I paired this complicated imagery with a simple san serif font so they wouldn’t compete with each other.
